PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal insulation plate fixing method for a catalyst converter for a vehicle capable of providing excellent work efficiency and reducing a cost such as a facility cost without casing the problem of corrosion by salt due to the affection of an aluminum plated layer, fixing a thermal insulation prate firmly even in a narrow flange part to provide the high degree of freedom of a shape of the flange part, allowing the plate having a large thickness to be fixed when compared with sport welding to fix both upper and lower thermal insulation plates simultaneously, and preventing an increase in size and cost due to the addition of a separate part such as a bracket. SOLUTION: Overrlapped two plate members of flange parts 221a, 22a of the thermal insulation plate 2 are nipped and pressurized between a projecting part 41 of a punch 4 and a recessed part 51 of a die 5 to protrude both plate member by plastic deformation in the direction of the recessed part 51, then the regulation of a protruding part a to the direction of a diameter expansion is released, and both plate members are further nipped and pressurized between an anvil 6 provided in the recessed part 51 and the projecting part 41 to plastically deform the protruding part a in the direction of the diameter expansion in order to connect and fix in spots both plate members in a plurality of sections. |
