<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent and cover the possibility of moving a latch element to a locking position in also an unexpected event during a traveling, in a steering locking device for an automobile. SOLUTION: This device has a basic structure to provide a driving part 8 movable in the axial direction with control contours 16 and 17 and to select a distance between a control cam 26 and a covering element 24. Namely, the distance is selected so that the control cam 26 may move in the axial direction for the control contours 16 and 17, thereby locating the control cam 26 on the outside of motion ranges of the control contours 16 and 17 when the latch element 11 is located at an unlocking position. When an electromechanical driving device such as an electric motor 5 is started to move the latch element 11 to a locking position, the position of the safety element 24 remains at an interruption position for the time being.</p> |
