PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor and a disk apparatus provided therewith having a hydrodynamic bearing capable of having superior wear resistant property and also preventing seizure caused by foreign bodies and also maintaining superior performance in a long time. SOLUTION: The motor having the hydrodynamic bearing and the disk apparatus rotatably driving recording disks by the motor are comprised of a sleeve member, a shaft member relatively rotatable to the sleeve member, and lubricating oil filled up between the sleeve member and shaft member. The sleeve member is made of base material with 180 or less of hardness Hv. A metal layer having hardness greater than that of the base material is provided on the surface of the base material, and a hydrodynamic groove is formed on the metal layer so as to expose the base material at the bottom of the groove.
