MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HIGHLY WATER-ABSORBING RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a highly water-absorbing resin with the content of a water-soluble component decreased without deteriorating water-absorbing performances of a water-absorbing resin obtained by polymerizing an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymerizable monomer. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a highly water-absorbing resin comprises polymerizing an aqueous solution of a monomer comprising a monovinyl monomer mainly composed of an at least partially neutralized unsaturated carboxylic acid, a polymerization initiator and a phosphinate compound, and impregnating the thus-formed water-containing resin with a crosslinking agent represented by general formula (1): R<1> -(CH2 -CH2 -O)n-R<2> (wherein R<1> and R<2> are each independently a functional group reactive with a carboxyl group; and n is an integer of 5-25) thereby effecting a crosslinking reaction.
