PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity nickel in which the generation of gaseous oxygen at the anode is suppressed so as to prevent lowering of the current efficiency when electrolytic purification is carried out by using a nickel sulfate solution, and by which the high purity nickel can be efficiently produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing high purity nickel is characterized in that a nickel sulfate solution is used as the electrolytic solution and a halogenated hydroacid is added to the nickel sulfate solution at the time of electrolytic purification.
