PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite roll for rolling made by centrifugal casting which has boundary strength between the external layer and the internal layer improved remarkably without sacrificing high wear resistance, surface roughening resistance or the like required for the external layer of a composite roll for rolling. SOLUTION: The composite roll for rolling made by centrifugal casting is obtained by forming the internal layer consisting of a ductile cast iron material having chemical components containing, by mass, 3.0 to 3.6% C, 2.5 to 3.3% Si, 0.3 to 0.8% Mn, 0.1 to 0.5% Ni, <=1.0% Cr, <=1.0% Mo, <=1.0% V, <=1.0 Nb, <=0.5% W, 0.03 to 0.08% Mg, <=0.1% P, <=0.05% S and 0.01 to 0.10% B, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities on the inside of the external layer consisting of a high speed steel based material.
