PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid detergent composition composed of a nitrogen- containing anionic surfactant, not changing the viscosity to pH change and excellent in foaming and rinsing performances, and further having a small change in the color due to sunlight exposure or high temperature storage, and capable of using a transparent container for the packaging. SOLUTION: The liquid detergent composition comprises (A) a nonionic surfactant consisting of a polyoxyethylenealkyl (or alkenyl) ether of the general formula (I): R-O-(CH2 CH2 O)n H (I) (wherein, R is a 10-18C alkyl or alkenyl; and n is an average additive-mole number of ethylene oxide), and having a small degree of narrowness satisfying equation II (wherein, Yi is a mass% of polyoxyethylenealkyl ether or polyoxyethylenealkenyl ether whose additive- mole number is i mol) when 0<n<=5 and the ethylene oxide additive-mole number at the largest mass% is let nmax , (B) a nitrogen-containing anionic surfactant, (C) an amphoteric surfactant and (D) a polyhydric alcohol.
