PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet extinguisher installed in a chamber oven-type coke oven, capable of preventing dust from scattering into the outside air by enlarging its dust-removing capacity. SOLUTION: This wet extinguisher has the following construction. In the extinguishing column 17 thereof, a packed bed 0.5-3 m in thickness packed with a resin solid 1 is provided in a steam flow channel above a cooling water spray nozzle 4 set up above an extinguishing truck 15; and further, a humidifying water spray nozzle 2 functioning to jet humidifying water 3 on the underside of the packed bed is located under the packed bed.
