PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rigidity of a connection part of a rear pillar and a tail cross member constituting a rear part vehicle body without increasing a plate thickness of them. SOLUTION: In this rear part vehicle body structure of the automobile constituted such that a terminal of a lower end constituting a side fringe of a back door opening and bent to a compartment side of the rear pillar 1 forming a closed cross section in the longitudinal direction with an inner panel 11 and a reinforcement 12 on its outer side is connected to a side end of the tail cross member 4 constituting a lower fringe of the back door opening and forming a closed cross section in the horizontal direction with a tail cross inner 41 and a tail cross outer 42, a vertical wall 15 blocking a terminal opening of the lower end of the rear pillar 1 is formed by opposing to a side wall 43 blocking a side end of the tail cross member 4 in the connection part of the rear pillar 1 and the tail cross member 4, and the closed cross section in the vertical direction of the rear pillar 1 is continuous up to the terminal of the lower end of the rear pillar 1.
