PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To level off excessive irregularities on a plane with which a screen comes into contact during printing and ensure a sure clamping state and thereby upgrade the printing accuracy. SOLUTION: This work pressing device comprises clamping plates 11 and 12 which press the end part of a printed wiring substrate W to the printing table 10 side, support columns 13, 14, 15a to 15d and 16a to 16d which support the clamping plates 11 and 12 in a freely movable manner and an electromagnet M embedded in the printing table 10. The clamping plates 11 and 12 are formed of a thin sheet-like magnetic material and arranged, almost in parallel, on the upper surface of the printing table 10. Thus the clamping plates 11 and 12 are fixedly attracted to the printing table 10 and free from the fixing state by controlling the clamping plates 11 and 12 and the electromagnet M. The parts coming out above the table surface 10 of the clamping plates 11 and 12 are arranged outside of a region corresponding to the maximum size of the printed wiring substrate W.
