ACTUATOR FOR POSITIONING HEAD ELEMENT FINELY AND HEAD DEVICE WITH THE ACTUATOR

An actuator fixed on a head slider carrying at least one head element, for positioning the head element finely. The actuator comprises a base portion and a pair of movable arm portions protruding from the base portion and provided at its distal ends with slider fixing portions on which the side portion of the head slider is fixed. Each movable arm portion is provided with an arm member and an actuator layer formed on the side face of the arm member so as to displace the arm member in response to a drive signal. These actuator layers terminate on the side faces of the arm members just before the slider fixing portions.
