PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the location of one's own vehicle with high detection reliability and high accuracy by forming a prescribed magnetic field on a prescribed traveling road, even when the vehicle traveling on the traveling road is in a state affected by magnetic disturbance due to geomagnetism and other magnetic bodies. SOLUTION: The device for recognizing the location of vehicle is provided with at least one magnetic marker 1 for forming the magnetic field at a prescribed location on a road surface, at least one magnetic sensor 2 for detecting the intensity of the magnetic field formed by the magnetic marker 1, and an on-board detector 3 for computing the location of a vehicle on the basis of the intensity of the magnetic field obtained from the magnetic sensor 2 at a point separated by a prescribed amount before and after the magnetic marker 1. The on-board detector 3 has both a correcting means for correcting the intensity of the magnetic field of the magnetic marker 1 on the basis of the intensity of the magnetic field obtained from the magnetic sensor 2 at the point separated by the prescribed amount before and after the magnetic marker 1 and a determining means for determining the presence of the magnetic marker 1, and the correction and the determination are performed on the basis of the average value of the intensity of the magnetic field obtained from the magnetic sensor 2. |
