PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new methine linked dye and a high sensitivity silver halide photographic sensitive material containing the dye. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a compound of the formula Dye1-(L1 -(Dye2)m1 )m2 (where Dye1 is a cyanine chromophore having one or more naphthalene ring moieties; Dye2 is one of cyanine, merocyanine and oxonol chromophores; L1 is a linking group; m1 is an integer of 1-5; and m2 is an integer of 1-5) in an emulsion layer.
