PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner with which the miniaturization of a device housing is realized in an overfill type optical scanner. SOLUTION: In the optical scanner, an incident return mirror 117 is arranged in the vicinity of the end part 124a of an outgoing return mirror 124 (within an area A) so that a shortest distance to the outgoing return mirror 124 is set to be <20 mm, and the shortest distance is desirably set to be >=2 mm<=15 mm.
