PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing type A zeolite whose all cation sites are occupied by the cations of sodium, calcium and/or magnesium, potassium, and hydronium, whose water absorbing capacity is >=23%, which does not absorb nitrogen and accordingly not desorb it, which can extend the pot life of a polyurethane(PU) composition when blended in the composition, and which can be added in a quantity extremely lager than conventional desiccants and is insensitive to the deterioration of a hydroxylated substance. SOLUTION: An aqueous suspension of zeolite 3A, 4A, or 5A, an aqueous solution of calcium salt, potassium salt, or calcium salt and potassium salt, and an acid solution are brought into contact with each other simultaneously or in an arbitrary order. The resultant solid is filtrated, washed, and finally dried and activated.
