UPPER FRONT PILLAR STRUCTURE OF AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure deformation stroke in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle sufficiently and prevent driver's visual confirmation region in the direction of vehicle width from becoming narrow. SOLUTION: A clearance between an upper part 12A in a front pillar 12 and a main body part 18 of a shock mitigating member 14, to say strictly, a clearance between the main body part 18 of the shock mitigating member 14 and a base part 16 is widened to ensure deformation stroke of the main body part 18 of the shock mitigating member 14 sufficiently. Moreover, the visibility on the side of the lateral direction of vehicle is ensured by the clearances among the main body part 18 of the shock mitigating member 14, the base part 16, and each bridge pier part 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 to prevent driver's visual confirmation region in the direction of vehicle width from becoming narrow.
