PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain optimal color reproducibility and luminance in a liquid crystal display device comprising a reflective liquid crystal display element which is made to serve concurrently as a transmissive display element by arranging an opening on a reflection layer of each of pixels even when used both in a reflective mode and in a transmissive mode. SOLUTION: The transflective liquid crystal display device comprises a combination of a plurality of the pixels 3R, 3G, 3B with mutually different colors which are composed of color filters 14 with mutually different colors arranged on the observer's side of a liquid crystal layer 13 and a reflection layer 16 arranged on the opposite side of the liquid crystal layer 13. In the liquid crystal display device the openings 17 are equipped on the reflection layer 16 of the respective pixels 3R, 3G, 3B and coloring layers 14Ra, 14Ga, 14Ba of parts of the color filters 14R, 14G, 14B of the respective pixels 3R, 3G, 3B corresponding to the openings 17 have wavelength distribution of transmittance different from that of coloring layers 14Rb, 14Gb, 14Bb of parts not corresponding to the openings 17. |
