MATERIAL FOR VIBRATION-DAMPING MATERIAL AND VIBRATION- DAMPING PROPERTIES IMPROVER FOR SYNTHETIC RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for a vibration-damping material which is excellent in moldability and gives a molded item exhibiting vibration-damping properties in a wide temperature range and excellent in weather resistance, durability, and designability; and a vibration-damping properties improver for synthetic resins. SOLUTION: This material comprises multilayer-structured polymer particles or is prepared by mixing and/or kneading the polymer particles with an inorganic filler. The polymer particle has a rubber component layer (I) formed by the copolymerization of a monomer mixture containing an acrylic ester and a polyfunctional monomer and a thermoplastic resin layer (II) formed by the copolymerization of a monomer mixture comprising a methacrylic ester and another monomer. The polymer particle has the following characteristics: (1) the number average mol.wt. of the thermoplastic resin constituting the outermost layer is 30,000 or lower; (2) the mass ratio of layer (I) to layer (II) is (30/70)-(90/10); and (3) the average particle size is 150 nm or lower. The vibration-damping properties improver for thermoplastic resins comprises the material.
