PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide juxtaposed escalators achieving a combination of first and second escalators to be installed in consideration of an operating direction and an operating speed for securing safety an convenience for passengers. SOLUTION: The first escalator 5 and the second escalator 6 are installed in parallel between a path 1 including a stairway 4 in a station connecting an upstairs floor 3 and a downstairs floor 2. The first escalator 5 consists of a normal speed escalator to be moved down at a normal speed of, for example, 30 m/min or slower for transporting travelers from the upstairs floor 3 to the downstairs floor 2, while the second escalator 6 consist of a high speed escalator to be moved up at a high speed of, for example, 45 m/min for transporting travelers from the downstairs floor 2 to the upstairs floor 3. Safety and convenience are secured for the travelers and higher serviceability is therefore provided for the travelers, namely, the passengers than usual.
