PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll grinding method and a roll grinding machine capable of reducing labor for grinding work without deteriorating grinding accuracy even when grinding a roll having a taper part and a bending part. SOLUTION: When the hardness of the roll changes from reference hardness, a grinding condition is changed on the basis of the hardness of the roll so that a cut quantity in the roll becomes the same as the cut quantity of the roll in reference hardness.
