PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic defect inspection apparatus, for an optical recording medium, which can solve the problem, in terms of production, that a disk which can be used is judged to be a defective disk and that a yield is lowered in a defect inspection process in the production process of the optical recording medium such as a CD-R disk, a CD-RW disk, or the like. SOLUTION: In the automatic defect inspection apparatus, the optical recording medium is irradiated with light in an automatic defect inspection in a process which manufactures the optical recording medium used to record and reproduce information, transmitted light and reflected light are detected, and the defect of the optical recording medium is inspected. In the inspection apparatus, two kinds o light sources for parallel light and for condensing light are installed as light sources used for the inspection.
