PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane-type oscillating actuator and a rotary shaft deformation preventing method for the actuator, in which the rotary shaft deformation in the radial direction is precluded, even in the case a high pressure acts on the pressure chamber of a cylinder. SOLUTION: The vane-type oscillating actuator is structured, so that a rotor with a vane 5 fixed to the rotary shaft 2 is fitted in the cylinder 1 and rotated by a pressure fluid, and that the rotation of the shaft 2 is stopped, when the vane 5 abuts to a stopper 6 fixed to the cylinder inner wall, wherein a pressure pocket 21 is provided at the peripheral surface of the vane 5; and a communication passage 24 for supplying pressure fluid to the pocket 21 is formed in the vane 5 and shaft 2, in such a way as to communicate with that pressure chamber 11 located on the opposite side to the pocket 21.
