PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a resin for a thermosetting powder coating having less foreign body such as dust. SOLUTION: The production method is such that the resin for the thermosetting powder coating is melted by heating and the melt is filtered through a pressure filter. For example, an acrylic resin containing an epoxy group having the melt viscosity of 1 Pa.s-10,000 Pa.s is produced. Concretely, at first a vinyl resin for the thermosetting powder coating is prepared by a solution- polymerization method, then the vinyl resin actually having no solvent is produced, which is melted by heating to get its viscosity of 1 Pa.s-10,000 Pa.s, then filtered through the pressure filter, finally solidified by cooling.
