摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display panel in which uniform alignment transition is obtained without producing alignment defects. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display panel, a liquid crystal having positive dielectric anisotropy is held between upper and lower substrates and each of the upper and lower substrates has an electrode to apply an electric field on the liquid crystal. When no electric field is applied, the liquid crystal molecules in the display area are subjected to splay alignment, and when an electric field is applied, the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules in the display area is transferred to bend alignment or π twist alignment. The display panel has a liquid crystal alignment region having different alignment from the splay alignment when no electric field is applied in at least a part of the region of the liquid crystal present in the region out of the display area. The liquid crystal alignment region having different alignment from the splay alignment is formed as extended over a plurality of pixel regions.
