<p>It is intended to provide means of inhibiting, regulating or weakening the infection of the living body with HCV. Polypeptides having an activity of binding to HCV E2 protein carrying at least the amino acids at the 1- to 33-positions in an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the sequences represented by SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:4 and SEQ ID NO:6 or the amino acids at the 11- to 53-positions thereof, and derivatives; polypeptides containing these polypeptides; preventives for HCV infection containing these polypeptides as the active ingredient; preventives or remedies for chronic hepatitis C containing these polypeptides as the active ingredient; polynucleotides encoding these polypeptides; method of treating or preventing chronic hepatitis C which comprises administering to a subject such a polypeptide in a therapeutically efficacious dose for inhibiting the binding of HCV to cells; and use of the polypeptides for producing the preventives for HCV infection, the remedies or the preventives as described above.</p> |
