Method for generating data for representation of high-quality route-guide symbols (RGS) from digital road map data and suggested route data. Accordingly a directly interesting section of road map data is determined and corresponding coordinates and suggested route coordinates determined. Independent claims are made for a method in which road map coordinate and suggested route coordinate data is displayed on a display unit and for driver information system with a navigation system that uses high-quality RGS symbols.
