PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a standard nucleic acid for assaying a copy number of a nucleic acid in a specimen that permits the assay of a standardized copy number of a nucleic acid and makes it significant to compare assay values obtained in different clinical examination stations even for a nucleic acid that has no standard nucleic acid whose copy number is recognized. SOLUTION: A standard nucleic acid for assaying a copy number of a nucleic acid is provided that contains a nucleic acid region having a base sequence identical to the nucleic acid region in a copy number-recognizing standard nucleic acid whose copy number was recognized and a nucleic acid region having a base sequence identical to a region of a nucleic acid to be assayed which is to be amplified or detected in the assay.
