PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of stably maintaining a sludge blanket layer in a sludge blanket type coagulating/sedimentation apparatus. SOLUTION: The sludge blanket layer stabilizing method according to the present invention is characterized in that a treated liquid flowing out from a coagulating/sedimentation apparatus is returned to liquid-to-be-treated circulation routes 12, 14, 16, 20 arranged at an upstream side of the coagulating/ sedimentation apparatus so as to feed the liquid to be treated to the coagulating/ sedimentation apparatus 10 and is used as the liquid to be treated and a flow-in amount of liquid to be treated flowing into the coagulating/sedimentation apparatus is maintained to a predetermined range. In this method, even if a flow-in amount of the liquid to be treated to the apparatus is reduced, a flow-in amount of the liquid to be treated can be maintained to a constant range by reutilizing the treated liquid as a liquid to be treated. Thereby, the method contributes to a stabilization of the sludge blanket layer.
