PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method a device for wire drawing which can manufacture a wire without curling and breaking, maintaining a stable winding without fluctuating winding tension while winding on a bobbin by optimizing the tension of winding on to the bobbin 4 while optimizing drawing at a dice 3 when the wire-drawing of a metal thin wire is carried out by a cone slip wiring roll. SOLUTION: The method and device for wire drawing are characterized in that, after passing through a finishing dice 3e, the metal thin wire 1 is driven in a manner of non slipping by a finishing capstan 6 and a separate roller 7, and thereafter goes through a dancer roller 9 at the end of a tension control arm 8 for the control of the winding tension. The metal thin wire 1 is a gold bonding wire having a finished wire diameter of 0.02-0.05 mm composed of gold or a gold alloy. The diameter of the finishing capstan 6 is 2000 times or larger and 2500 times or smaller than that of the finished wire. The moment of inertia of the tension control arm 8 is 320 gf.cm<2> or less.
