PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chopper with which chopped materials each having different particle size from the other are easily obtained. SOLUTION: This chopper is provided with: a charging section C for charging an object to be chopped through a chute 19; a chopping drum A having a discharging port 4; a chopped rotor B having a rotary shaft 7 supported in a freely rotatable manner inside the chopping drum A, rotor plates 10 and 11 fitted to the rotary shaft 7 and chopping blades 13 which are arranged on the peripheries of the rotor plates 10 and 11 and used for chopping an object to be chopped; a driving means for rotating the rotor B at high rotational speed; an air conveyance means 9 which is placed within the chopping drum A and used for generating an air stream capable of subjecting the object to be ground and the resulting chopped material to air conveyance; cutouts 10b which are formed in each of the rotor plates 10 and used for adjusting the flow direction of the air stream; air intake windows 5, 6 and 22 which are formed in at least any one of a drum front end plate 2 of the chopping drum A, a drum rear end plate 3 of the chopping drum A and the chute 19 respectively, and used for adjusting the air quantity of the air stream; and further, a charge quantity adjustment means 20 which is placed in the charging section C and used for adjusting the charge quantity of the object into the chopping drum A.
