PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the development of a loop and a crease when a metal coil comes out of a rolling mill. SOLUTION: During the operation of the rolling mill (2) to manufacture a metal coil (1) by giving tension between the rolling mill (2) and a coiler (7), when tension at the tail end of the metal coil (1) is suddenly released and becomes nil, the revolving speed of a transfer roll (3) to transfer the metal coil (1) from the rolling mill (2) to the coiler (7) is reduced to be slower than the passing speed of the metal coil (1) and tension in the reverse direction of the metal coil is given to the tail end of the metal coil by making a guide side (5) to contact both ends of the width direction of the metal coil. The side guide (5) is installed aslope in a truncated chevron shape controlled by hydraulic pressure.
