PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely change roll clearance between guide rolls corresponding to the change of drawing speed of a cast slab during casting in a continuous caster. SOLUTION: This roll interval control unit for the continuous caster controls guide rolls 3 held by supporting members 4, 4', respectively and disposed so as to face each other by interposing a cast slab 1 drawn out from a mold, and this unit is provided with a spacer 6 expandable/shrinkable for adjusting the clearance of the faced supporting members, a pushing means for fixing the clearance between the guide rolls by pushing the supporting members to the spacer and a roll interval setter 10 for setting the roll clearance corresponding to the drawing-out speed of the cast slab, and the spacer is extended/shrunk during casting with a signal of the roll clearance setter to control the clearance between the guide rolls.
