The invention relates to a trailer coupling (10) comprising a coupling bolt (16) that is guided inside a coupling body (12). A raising unit (18) secures, while under spring pre-tension (26), the coupling bolt (16) inserted into the cavity of a drawbar lug (20), and an actuating unit (28) can transfer the raising unit into a holding position, in which it holds the coupling bolt (16) in the uncoupled position thereof. A release unit (22), while under spring pre-tension (24), follows the retracting drawbar lug (20), whereby a release element (30), which is arranged on the release unit (22), makes way for the coupling bolt (16). During the reverse movement of the release unit (22) caused by the entering drawbar lug (20), the release element (30), however, transfers a release moment to the coupling bolt (16) whereby terminating the holding function between the raising unit (18) and the coupling bolt (16).
