The method for laying new pipes without excavation uses a cylindrical tool (6) which fits around the old pipe (2) and cuts a bore in the earth (1) for the new pipe, while simultaneously braking up the old pipe. A face plate (9) connecting the tool to the new pipe (4) carries additional cutters (8) and has channels (13) through which earth and broken pipe (12) can pass. An Independent claim is included for a machine for carrying out the method.
