Device for measuring the separation between two bodies, especially a pipe and a sleeve, has a measurement cone (10) with a measurement tip (12) and a housing (30) that contains the cone and slides along it. The forward end (40) of the housing has an opening for the tip. The housing has a lower support surface that extends rearwards from the forward end along the length of the housing. A cut out section in the housing allows the measurement result to be read off from a scale using a reading device (50).
