A contact element is formed at one end by an insulation displacement terminal area (1) and at the other end by a fork contact. To increase the flexibility of the fork contact, arms for making contact (3,4) are linked to the bottom area of a side-fixed joining piece for double insulation displacement terminals and are bent at right angles linking to the center of the contact element to produce an elongated spring excursion/travel.
