The mechanical power assist has two guide carriages (1,3) at a right angle to each other and which run on respective guide rails (2,4). Between the first and second guides made up of the respective guide carriages and rails, is a third guide comprising a guide carriage (6) and a guide rail (5). The third guide is at an angle to the other two guides and this angle is adjustable. A bearing block (7) may be fastened to the first guide carriage, in which the third guide rail (5) is rotatably mounted by a bearing pin (8).
