PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adding artificial slag for continuous casting with which development of surface defect at the end stage of the casting can be restrained. SOLUTION: In the casting method with which a cast slab (4) is continuously cast while adding the artificial slag (6), this method for adding the artificial slag for continuous casting has a constitution, in which the exothermic artificial slag is added so that this exothermic artificial slag having higher exothermic property than the above artificial slag (6) forms a fused layer in a mold (3) before the temperature of molten steel (3A) in the mold (3) drops at the end stage of the casting.
