A connector of particular use in connecting piles has a pair of female members which are fitted to each end of a reinforcing bar. Each female member has a first attachment socket (10) at its end for attachment to the reinforcing bar by an internal thread (12) which engages with helical protrusions on the outer surface of the reinforcing bar. A further socket (16) having inwardly projecting saw tooth protrusions (18) is present at the other end of the female member. A male member in the from of a hollow cylinder (30, fig 4) has external projections (36, fig 4) which engage with the saw tooth protrusions (18) on the socket (16) when the male member is driven into the female member to form the joint. The connector is formed of plastic. |
