PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a seating gear provided with a folding backrest not have a great size. SOLUTION: This seating gear 1 includes a base 2 and a seat itself provided with a backrest 3 and a seat body 4. The backrest 3 includes a lower part 5 and an upper part 6 fixed onto the lower part 5 via a first locking mechanism 11 so that the backrest 3 pivots on the first locking mechanism 11. The lower part 5 of the backrest 3 is fixed onto the base 2 via a second locking mechanism 10 so that the lower part 5 of the backrest 3 pivots on the second locking mechanism 10. Both the locking mechanisms 10, 11 are able to be simultaneously unlocked by the upper part 6 being pulled into the inside of the lower part 5 inside a recess 19 provided on the base 2.
