Device for preventing rotation of the steering column body of a motor vehicle

The device comprises a support (2) connected to the chassis and a body (1) held relative to the support by a locking system (3). The locking system comprises a locking pin (8) controlled by a handle (9). In order to adjust the column in the required direction the device has a pair of connecting surfaces (26) connected to the support which engage a pair of connecting surfaces (27) connected to the body. These connecting surfaces are parallel to the required adjustment direction of the column and are inclined to the corresponding surface (18,13) of the support or body. The surfaces engage each other during locking of the steering column preventing rotation of the column body. They remain engaged in each other in the unlocked position.
