The guidance system provides circular rotation of the workpiece (1) about a driven axis (3) with a stationary laser beam (2) or rotation of the laser beam lens with a stationary workpiece, for providing a circular cut with a given radius (R). The distance of the laser beam from the rotation center is adjusted for determining the cut circle radius.
