The ultra-light metro system comprises two or three carriages, each supported on a series of support feet, with an aluminum base plate. The carriage and support structure runs over a railway rail comprising prefabricated concrete channel sections, at a maximum speed of 40 km/h carrying approximately 50 passengers. The ultra-light metro transport consists of two or three carriages linked together by universal joints, with protective bellows around the joint sections. The carriages are supported by several feet with a section which is similar to the mushroom cross-section of a rail. These slide over a support rail which is formed using modules of prefabricated concrete. Support is provided by re-chargeable hydra-gas spheres, such as those used in certain cars of the 1970s, supporting an aluminum platform solidly attached to the carriage body. A power supply of 300V dc is used to power a motor which applies force to the rail to move the vehicle forward. Cleaning of the rail, to remove any accumulated water and debris, is carried out daily.
