Cross-linked polyamides are produced from a diamine (a), a dicarboxylic acid compound (b) and a tricarboxylic compound (c). - Better heat and chemical resistance than linear polyamides. - (a) has the formula:- where X is H or an alkyl or aryl radical in which each OX group is fixed directly to a tetravalent C atom, Y is 2H or, when X is not H Y is =C=O, and in which each group NY is fixed directly to a C atom of R3. R3 is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic radical or several aromatic radicals linked directly together or by at least one radical from the groups: alkyl, dioxy, alkyl, -S-, -SO2-, -O-, -CO-, for example, 3,3'-dihydroxybenzidine.
