The invention relates to a filter for poured beverages, especially coffee filter, where the filter is made of fibrous material, the pores having an average diameter of about 0.1 to about 0.4 mm, preferably up to about 0.3 mm, measured at a fibre density of 50% in relation to the initial or the average density of the material fibres and which is characterized in that at a pore diameter, corresponding to 90% of the average pore diameter, the fibre density is about 0 to about 40% of the initial or average density of the material fibres. The material is preferably paper. During the process of making such a filter, the pores are made preferably by needle pricking or by projecting a water jet onto the fibrous material.
