PURPOSE: A gap adjusting method for electric motor is provided to shorten assembly time and reduce manufacturing cost by adjusting gap of motor through the use of a gap adjustment washer. CONSTITUTION: A gap adjusting method comprises a first step of press fit to an armature(14) to the outer periphery of an armature shaft(12); a second step of fitting first and second bushes(30,30') to the armature shaft, such that first and second bushes are positioned at both sides of the armature; a third step of mounting a commutator(26) and a spacer(32) to the armature shaft, such that the commutator and the spacer are positioned at the rear of the second bush; a fourth step of coupling a front cover(36) having a magnet(16), to the outer surface of the armature, in such a manner that the front cover supports the armature shaft; a fifth step of mounting a bearing(24) to an inner protrusion(38a) of a rear housing(38), by firstly coupling the rear housing to the rear of the front cover; a sixth step of separating the rear housing from the front cover, and inserting a gap adjustment washer(34) to the armature shaft arranged in the rear of the spacer; and a seventh step of secondly coupling the rear housing while adjusting a pressing force such that an air gap is formed between the gap adjustment washer and the bearing.
