PURPOSE: A base cap for a color CRT is provided to prevent dielectric breakdown between the lead pin where a high voltage is applied and the lead pin where a low voltage is applied. CONSTITUTION: A base cap(30) for a color CRT, comprises a cylindrical housing(31); a flange portion(32) extended in a radial direction from an end of the housing, and which has a plurality of through holes(41,42,43) for insertion of lead pins(16) fixed to the stem of an electron gun; and a dielectric breakdown prevention unit arranged at the rear surface of the flange portion corresponding to the stem, and which prevents dielectric breakdown between lead pins. The dielectric breakdown prevention unit is constituted by a protrusion(51) formed at the rear surface of the flange portion corresponding to the distance formed between lead pins.
