PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling track jump of an optical disc are provided to calculate the number of tracks for an optical pickup to move in consideration to a linear velocity of an optical disc, thereby precisely accessing the target position. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling track jump of an optical disc includes the steps of measuring loads in forward and reverse directions of a sled motor which moves an optical pickup, calculating a linear velocity of the optical disc(S21), calculating the number of tracks from a current position to a target position in the movement of the optical pickup, and the number of track to the target position in consideration of the calculated linear velocity(S22), determining a driving voltage of the sled motor in consideration of the calculated real track number, the measured load, and the movement direction(S23), and moving the optical pickup to the target position by applying the determined driving voltage to the sled motor(S24).
