PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery of high safety, having high capacity, high energy density and superior charging and discharging cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: In this battery, formed by accommodating a power generating element provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode and the electrolyte, in an outer package body, the battery has an alloy inside of the outer package body, the alloy has electron conductivity, and has an alloy phase electrochemically inactive in the battery within the range of charging and discharging potential of the battery, and the alloy phase includes at least a part forming a solid solution of silicon and at least one kind among the group-III elements of the periodic table, such as Sc, Y, La and Ce. |
