PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program version number managing device capable of selecting the latest version number client program fitting a premised program including a server program and an operating system. SOLUTION: This program version number managing device is provided with a client program storing part consisting of a program main body 114 and version details 115 and a program starting part 108 for selecting a program and starting the program. The program starting part 108 is provided with a program setting part 109 for setting a program that fits the premised program 110 including the server program and the operating system and also fits the version of a program stored in a server machine in a program storing part 113, and a version number selecting part 112 for selecting the program of a version number fitting the version of the program stored in the server machine among programs stored in the client program storing part 113 based on a version number selection instruction of the program starting part 108.
